Avoid at all costs. My email is everyday experiencing problems. Since longtime I contact them. They can not fix it. Today I didn't stop sending them tickets forth and back, losing my time. My email is still not working. We are a company just imagine what happens when your email doesn't work. You lose your clients. They are just good at two things: Making you lose your time and money.
I received a bill from hosttech asking me to pay an upgrade of our hosting service. I took contact with the customer care, explaining I've never asked for an upgrade (I was moderating a workshop at the time where I should have asked for the upgrade). They answered me that it was me and if I want to downgrade, as I have caused them admin costs, I should pay 15€ (the same amount would had cost my upgrade, quite strange, isn't it?). So now I've to decide. Pay 15€ to downgrade my account or pay 15€ to keep a more expensive account that I don't need. They are cheap in the customer orientation as they are for their pricing. I can't recommend them.
I wanted to purchase a domain from them. Bad idea. Very bad idea. First of all they do not require any identification. That means anyone can order a domain in your name, using your email - and you'll be getting invoices!! When you follow the purchasing process, in the end they add a fee to the advertised price. The fee isn't mentioned anywhere. Stay away from these people. They don't deserve your business.
Thanks for the feedback. You only get charged additional fees for additional services (such as instant setup). Domain prices mentioned on our website are without additional services of course. We hope this helps.
I am really disappointed by hosttech service. Their price seem low, but when you add extra cost for SSD, the extra cost for a monthly contract and commission fee, you realize that the cost is the same as others. Plus control panel is only in german, and they don't provide support over weekend, that it is absurd for a hosting company these days. And finally, when you ask to cancel the contract made for one month, they ask you to pay another month! And this is absolutely unacceptable for a "cloud server". Other real cloud companies bill per minute, and they have no contractual terms, this is the power of a real cloud hosting. I therefore wonder whether it is really a cloud server. I regret bitterly that I have left Exoscale for hosttech. Exoscale is far away in quality of service compared to hosttech. Absolutely I do not recommend to anyone hosttech.
We are very sorry for your bad experience. Our support is also reachable during weekends by opening a ticket. Regarding the contract: we are sorry, that you didn't like the way we bill our customers. However, you once agreed to that contract. We hope this helps to understand.
The service is often not available and does not work reliably. Sometimes there are forwarding and availability errors for some days. Then they're gone again. SSL certificates regularly expire without the provider noticing. In order to keep availability up the user has to regularly open tickets for the support in order to be followed up the coming days. I expected a better quality service.

I'm very happy with hosttech. They have given me a great experience for my site. My site is not very fancy or anything, and doesn't get too much traffic, but I love it. It is clear that this company also loves providing me with the hosting as they do an excellent job of it. I think they are the premier hosting provider in Switzerland.
